Elev8 Baltimore Opens its Doors
Elev8 Baltimore celebrated its successful first semester with a week-long series of events, culminating with a press conference at Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School on December 17th. The 30+ partners in the Elev8 Baltimore network were on hand to talk about the myriad of after-school programs available for middle graders and their families. Students worked the crowds, distributing healthy snacks and student-produced music and art. Baltimore City Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake visited Tench Tilghman, saying she is “excited at the possibilities” Elev8 brings to the city. Students’ decisions to drop out are not based simply on their experiences in high school; instead, the pathway to dropping out appears to start much earlier.
