Elev8 Immigration Reform Town Hall Meeting
On Saturday, August 7, 2010, Elev8 students from Orozco Community Academy in Chicago will spearhead a town hall meeting on immigration reform. The town hall will be held at Orozco Community Academy and will be moderated by U.S. Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-Illinois). Elev8 students, families, and community residents will participate in the town hall. Congressman Gutierrez will discuss the impact of American immigration policy and how it directly affects students, families, and communities.
The discussion will establish the framework for why comprehensive national immigration reform is necessary by focusing on personal experiences and action steps to help achieve comprehensive immigration reform. Elev8 Chicago invites all to join them in this important conversation on immigration reform. There will also be opportunities to access community resources available to families and community members during a community resource fair.
