Graduation Rates, by State and Race

Across United States public schools, just 74.9 percent of students who were freshmen in the fall of 2004 graduated from high school on time in 2008, according to a report from the National Center for Education Statistics. There's a huge amount of variation though, depending on where the students live. The New York Times has created an interactive chart of graduation rates by state and race.
