| Elev8 Students Gear Up For Summer Learning Activities
Elev8 students are getting ready for their summer learning activities to begin. At Roosevelt Middle School in Oakland, approximately 120 sixth and seventh graders will be participating in Elev8 summer programming. The programs will focus on both academic (math and English Language Arts) and enrichment activities. A group of rising eighth graders will also participate in an Algebra Camp this summer.

Summer Learning Resources
Now that summer has begun, students are at risk to lose the academic progress they made during the school year. In fact, research shows that students lose approximately two months of grade-level equivalency in mathematical computation skills during summer vacation. And, low-income students lose more than two months in reading achievement, even though middle-class students tend to make slight gains over the same time period.
